The Mental Health Worker establishes a therapeutic relationship with all patients and is responsible for the overall provision and maintenance of a safe, therapeutic environment in the behavioral health unit.
Documents on patient activities and interactions with patients. Takes vital signs, weighs patients, and collects routine specimens.
Completes various routine unit duties. Ensures patient safety by providing continuous safety checks and 1:1 direct patient observation as needed.
Assists patients with ADL’s. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Closely monitors patient behaviors and intervenes as needed.
Duties
Provide direct care and support to patients in a mental health setting, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Assist in the implementation of treatment plans developed by healthcare professionals.
Engage patients in therapeutic activities that promote mental health and well-being.
Conduct data collection on patient behaviors and progress for reporting purposes.
Participate in crisis intervention and management, utilizing de-escalation techniques as needed.
Support patients dealing with addiction through counseling and behavior management strategies.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop effective treatment approaches for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, behaviors, and treatment outcomes.
Requirements
High School diploma/GED
Experience or training in mental health care, including knowledge of PTSD care and behavioral health principles.
Crisis management training within 90 days of hire.
