September 18, 2025 – Six months after reopening under new ownership, Sharon Regional Health System continues to expand services and strengthen its commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare close to home for Mercer County residents.
The hospital, which reopened in March 2025 under the leadership of Tenor Health Foundation following the transition from Steward Health, has made significant strides in rebuilding and enhancing its healthcare services. This milestone represents not just a reopening, but a renewed dedication to ensuring our community has access to quality healthcare without the need to travel outside the region.
Growing to Meet Community Needs
Our emergency department has demonstrated remarkable growth since reopening, currently serving approximately 1,250-1,300 patients per month. While this represents steady progress from our reopening, we’re working diligently toward returning to our previous capacity of 2,000 patients monthly. This upward trend reflects the community’s renewed trust and our expanding capabilities to serve their emergency healthcare needs.
“We’re also working on programs to ensure that we don’t have to transfer people out of the hospital for services,” hospital administrators shared with WKBN-TV this week. This commitment to comprehensive care means developing and implementing new service lines that keep patients close to home and family during their healthcare journey.
Building Our Healthcare Team
The dedication of our healthcare professionals has been instrumental in our successful reopening. We’re proud to report that most of the employees who were with us before the January closure have returned, bringing their valuable experience and commitment to patient care back to our community. Their loyalty and dedication speak volumes about the strength of the Sharon Regional family.
As we continue to grow and expand services, we’re actively recruiting healthcare professionals to join our team. With up to 50 positions available across various departments, we’re seeking talented individuals who share our mission of delivering the highest standard of quality healthcare to patients, families, and communities throughout Mercer County and surrounding areas.
Looking Forward
These six months mark just the beginning of Sharon Regional Health System’s new chapter. As we continue to expand services, increase our patient capacity, and strengthen our workforce, we remain focused on our core purpose: being here for our community when they need us most.
For those interested in joining our growing team and being part of this exciting journey, we encourage you to explore career opportunities at Sharon Regional Health System. Together, we’re building a stronger, healthier future for our region.
